South Texas Arrow Points
I've lived in the Corpus Christi area most all my life and have hunted a lot of plowed fields here. Surface hunting is more common here and I've never really met anyone who dug in this area of Texas, just seems you can find more stuff by just walking around after a rain. Artifacts seem more scattered here, sites are very spread out and some are large. All the sites I've been on here are different from the hill country, we don't have rock middens here and flint wasn't as plentiful. We find clay cooking balls instead of rock middens like the hill country. When flint chips appear in an exposed area usually it's a dead give away, seems oyster shells are common along with snails here on the coast. I've hunted the following counties, San Patricio, Nueces, Kelberg, Duval, Webb, Hidalgo, Starr, Zapata, Aransas, McMullen, Live Oak, and a few others. Some killer points come off the Rio Grande river drainage and all along the coast. Here's some pix of some of my South Texas collection.
